A shipment of iPads was stolen from Flint Hill Elementary School last week, according to reports from the Newton County Sheriff's Office.
The 10 iPads were delivered to the school and placed inside a classroom, which was then locked, according to Lt. Keith Crum. They were later reported missing and are valued at $5,000. They were purchased with Special Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) funds.
Sherri Davis-Viniard, public relations director for the Newton County School System, said that the theft was reported to the system's insurance company and that the iPads will be replaced once the system meets its deductible of $5,000, the same amount of the stolen iPads.
