COVINGTON, Ga. - The City of Covington is asking for your prayers for an officer who was shot Monday afternoon after responding to call for service at the Walmart on Industrial Boulevard.

"One of our police officers was critically wounded today in the line of duty," Covington Mayor Ronnie Johnston said. "Our faithful and dedicated men and women in blue risk their lives every day for our safety and well being. Please join me in lifting this officer and his family in our prayers along with all our public service personnel."
