A party in Porterdale

The third annual Art on the River and Dance event will  be held in Porterdale on Saturday.

The event features the talents of the local artists whose work is presented in the Southern Heartland Art Gallery, and live music and entertainment will be provided by the Grapevine Band.

The artwork will be on display from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and a cash bar and hors d’oeuvres will be provided. Guests are welcome to bring their own food and drink.

The band will begin performing at 7:30 p.m. and will play until the end of the evening.  The band, back by popular demand, plays 60s style Motown tunes — perfect for dancing the night away.

Guests are encouraged to bring their own tables and chairs; those provided will be first-come first-served.

The event will run from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Porterdale Mill Lofts. Admission will cost $25 for adults, and $20 for senior citizens aged 65 or older. Tickets include one free drink coupon.

The event is organized by the Arts Association of Newton County. The event is sponsored by Capes Property Management, Stuart Hamilton of Edward D. Jones, Plain Nuts Catering and the Porterdale Mill Lofts.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.newtoncounty arts.org. A limited number will be available at the door.
