Child molester to be sentenced

Charles Leslie Skrobot is scheduled to be sentenced on charges that he molested a 4-year-old female relative in 2010.

The former member of the Covington Redevelopment Authority and the owner of the now closed Town Center Bread pleaded guilty to the charges against him in September. He was sent to the Newton County Jail where he remains, with no bond set, awaiting sentencing.

His sentencing is scheduled for mid-October. Assistant District Attorney Peter Boehm said his office proposed a sentence of 20 years to serve five with the remaining to be served on probation, and special conditions of sex offender probation.

Ultimately, Newton County Superior Court Judge Horace Johnson will decide his punishment. He can accept the proposed plea or sentence Skrobot to something less or more.
