Mr. and Mrs. Ernest G. Shiver of Pelham announce the engagement of their daughter Lana Rose Shiver to Benjamin Robert McFarlin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas H. McFarlin III of Rutledge.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Mr. P.L. Bass of Pelham and the late Rosezell Bass and the late Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Shiver, also of Pelham. She is a 2005 graduate of Cairo High School and a 2009 graduate of Valdosta State University where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in speech communication with an emphasis in public relations.

The future groom is the grandson of Mrs. Violet Cowan of Covington and the late Mr. Robert Felton Cowan and Mrs. Alma McFarlin of Rutledge and the late Mr. George Benjamin McFarlin. He is a 2005 graduate of Piedmont Academy and attended Valdosta State University and Griffin Technical College. He is employed by Storefront Systems Inc., Covington.

The couple will wed Nov. 6.
