MANSFIELD, Ga. – Ladies, you don’t want to miss out on some amazing upcoming outdoors workshops! From introductory to advanced courses on handgun use, to a coastal adventure, you will not only gain knowledge, but will also experience fun and friendship.

All of these programs are part of the Beyond Becoming an Outdoors Woman (BBOW) program.

“BOW programs offer such a great environment for learning, especially for women who may be unsure about things like handling firearms, or fishing, or other outdoor recreation opportunities,” says Jody Rice, Georgia BOW Coordinator. “BOW is an educational program offering hands-on workshops to women of all ages and physical ability levels and aims to break down barriers to female participation in outdoor activities by providing a safe and supportive learning environment.”

Upcoming Courses include:

  • Women’s Handgun Preparedness Workshop (sponsored by Glock): July 7-9, 2017; Cost $350 - This training course covers firearm safety, firearm basics, ammunition, shooting sequence, hunter education and cleaning handguns. There will be time on the range to fire a variety of Glocks.Participants must be age 18 or older.
  • Georgia Coastal Beyond BOW: July 21-24, 2017; Cost $825 - Georgia Coastal Beyond BOW provides participants with outdoor skills related to the coast, and introduce them to the resource management and education of the natural, historical and cultural resources of Georgia’s Coast.
  • Advanced Women’s Handgun Workshop (sponsored by Glock): Sept. 8-10, 2017; Cost $395 - This Advanced Women's Handgun training course covers safety, brief review of basics, drawing from a holster, magazine changes, malfunction drills, and hands-on practicing.

Spaces are limited for each of these programs, so don’t wait to sign up! Program costs vary depending on the workshop, and whether or not lodging is desired by the participant.

Both handgun courses take place at the Charlie Elliott Wildlife Center located near Mansfield, less than an hour southeast of Atlanta off interstate 20. The Coastal BBOW program will take place on Sapelo Island, Georgia.
