COVINGTON, Ga. - Two local doctors made good on their bet on Saturday’s in-state rivalry game against the University of Georgia Bulldogs and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets.

With the Dawgs pulling out a 38-7 victory in Atlanta, Dr. Jamie Adams, of Covington Family Chiropractic, was forced to wear a University of Georgia jersey Thursday after agreeing to a bet on the game with Dr. Kristian Shriver, of Animal Medical of Covington.

Adams, a "rabid Georgia Tech fan," said her husband attended the school and has become a fan through him. Shriver, "an equal fan of the Bulldogs," has two degrees from UGA.

Also included in the bet was a donation to charity. Adams selected the Newton County Pregnancy Resource Center.

“It’s something that is important to me and something that I feel is really an important part of our community to have that resource available to ladies,” she said. “I had thought about choosing a bigger, national charity, but I really wanted to keep it here, keep it local and keep it within our community and really help support that agency because it’s a newer place here in Covington and it’s definitely something that needs our love and support for sure.”

Shriver said he also had a connection to the center.

“My mom has worked with organizations like that since I was 13 or 14 years old,” he said.

UGA and Georgia Tech are scheduled to play again Nov. 24, 2018 between the hedges.
