Mr. James Brooking, formerly of Covington, celebrated his 90th birthday with his family at his home in Loganville. Mr. Brooking was born in Eatonton July 22, 1918. His parents, Jim and Nettie Brooking moved to Covington in 1920.

Mr. Brooking married Kathleen Mitchell from Conyers. They met in the cotton mill at Porterdale. They had three daughters - Norma, Peggy and Joyce. Mr. Brooking served in World War II and retired from Lithonia Lighting.

He is a member of the Masonic Lodge, the American Legion and the North Covington Methodist Church. The couple has 10 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
