Let your child explore their creative side at the Children’s Art Factory in Olde Town Conyers. Filled with all kinds of paints, crayons and craft supplies, the Children’s Art Factory provides a way for kids to explore and express their creativity and artistic abilities.

Opened two months ago, co-owner Madelyn Riera transformed a former Montessori school in Olde Town into a space for kids to have fun, learn artistic techniques and discover their creative talents. The Children’s Art Factory has a variety of programs available to children from ages 3-4 years old to early teens. Programs include Open Art, in which children and their parents, are able to explore and imagine using any form of artistic medium, such as paint, crayons and colored pencils.

"With Open Art, parents come in with their kids, and they can join them if they like," said Madelyn Riera. "We encourage it."

The Factory also offers craft-making programs as well as art instructions and history programs, in which children get a hands-on experience learning about different historical artists and techniques.

Art programs and classes are not the only things provided here. The Children’s Art Factory also hosts fun and creative-based birthday parties for children. Filled with art, themes and goodie bags, kids can have day "making a colorful mess."

"Parents just need to bring the kids and the cake," Riera said.

In an almost serendipitous coincidence, Children’s Art Factory is located in the same renovated house as local bakery, Sugar Bakers. As such, there are discounts available for bakery goodies for birthday parties held at the Children’s Art Factory.

Riera comes from an artistic background herself, as well as from a big family. After earning a degree in fine arts and graphic design from New York Institute of Technology, Riera visited some family already living in Conyers and realized Conyers was the perfect place for the art facility.

"I got the idea [for Children’s Art Factory] in New York and I came down for Fall Festival," Riera said. "This was my target. I was planning in New York to come to Rockdale."

"I want a creative space for kids and their families where they can express themselves," Riera said.

This year, Children’s Art Factory is hosting a Halloween Funfest on Sunday from noon-4 p.m. which includes treats and a variety of art projects including face painting, mask making and a pumpkin patch for kids to pick and paint their own pumpkin.

The Children’s Art Factory is located at 939 Bank Street in Olde Town Conyers behind the BB&T Bank. For more information call (676) 667-ARTS (2787) or visit www.childrensartfactory.com.
