A masked robber struck the Wachovia bank branch on Ga. Highway 138 this morning, making off with a bag of cash, according to Conyers police.
A black male, described as being about 6 feet tall and 180 pounds, reportedly came into the branch around 10:15 a.m. Monday wearing a brown ski mask, dark sweatshirt, gloves and blue jeans, according to CPD Chief David Cathcart.
"He proceeds to jump over the counter towards a teller who is doing a transaction and demands money," said Cathcart. The suspect began snatching the cash and putting it into a white bag with handles that he had brought with him into the bank.
"He goes to the next teller and demands 'Get me all your money,'" said Cathcart. The robber then ran out the door, followed by two witnesses, and was seen running past the car wash, towards the flea market. He reportedly entered a black passenger vehicle, described a Sonata, driven by another black male and was last seen heading east on Old Salem Road, away from Ga. Highway 138.
The suspect reportedly did not brandish a gun during the robbery, according to Cathcart. There were customers inside the bank at the time. "It was very quick," he said.
