Heritage teacher arrested for sexual contact charges (April 2, 2012)
The former Heritage teacher who was arrested for having sex with a student was also later charged with child molestation after investigators discovered the activity started while the student was 15.
Leslie Howard Mosley, Jr., 36, now of Vidalia, turned himself in Friday to the Rockdale County Jail where he remains without bond.
Rockdale County Sheriff's Office investigator Lt. Matthew Wolfe said, "Through our investigation, we found the relationship started when she was 15. The age of consent is 16."
The affair between Mosley and the now 16-year-old female student was consensual and had been going on for at least this school year. The activity appears to have been conducted off campus, according to investigators.
Mosley was charged on March 30 with the teacher/adminstrator having sexual contact with a student since he was in an administrative role as a teacher and the student was currently enrolled at the school, and was released on a $10,000 bond earlier. The student was enrolled as a student in his class twice, said Wolfe. The investigation did not uncover other students being sexually contacted, according to Wolfe.
Mosley began working with the Rockdale County Public School system in August 1999 and had been a fine arts teacher at Heritage High School since July 2006. Mosely had turned in his resignation just before his March 30 arrest but the resignation was turned down and he was instead terminated earlier this week.
