Davis Middle students added holiday cheer in a distinguished setting for the Governor's Mansion's many visitors on Monday.

The seventh and eighth grade Advanced Treble Chorus was chosen as one of the school performing groups as part of the Governor's Mansion holiday festivities. The chorus sang Christmas classic selections such as a medley of the "Carol of the Bells" and "I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day," the German carol “Kling Glocken Kling,” a Christmas spiritual entitled “Up Above My Head” and well known carols like “O Christmas Tree,” “Deck the Halls” and “Ding Dong Merrily on High.”

Afterwards, the students were given a free tour of the mansion and even met First Lady Sandra Deal.

"I think their favorite part was getting to eat cookies and hot cider after they sang since the mansion staff provided them with treats afterwards," said DMS teacher and chorus director Gretchen Swanson, who also assists with holiday festivities at Stone Mountain Park.
