Shame

Dear Editor,

I was disgusted by your article regarding the pay adjustment for NCSS employees. I have worked in this county for five years and during those years, I haven’t gotten step raises, my insurance is more expensive, gas and groceries are more expensive, and living in general is more expensive.

Shame on The Covington News for taking away the recognition and praise our BOE and Superintendent are trying to give us. My $400 check will be taxed, and then I will take the remainder to buy groceries, gas, and necessities for my family. I have spent far more on supplies and special treats for my students over the past 5 years.

So thank you NCSS BOE for showing us appreciation, and shame on this "hometown newspaper" for your lack of support toward your hometown teachers.
