Mr. William Franklin Hardegree Sr., a life time resident of Covington, Ga., died Thursday, October 29, 2009 at his residence.  Born on December 6, 1934 in Walton County, Ga., he was the son of the late Thomas Franklin and Kate Ivey Hardegree .  Mr. Hardegree served our country in the United States Air Force serving in Illinois, Texas, Oregon, New Jersey, Japan and St. Lawrence Island. He retired from Ford Motor Company as a Traffic Engineer after 25 years of service.  He was an active member of High Point Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He loved antique cars and was in the Peach State Cruisers club. He loved traveling and especially going to the mountains.  Mr. Hardegree was a loving husband, father, grandfather.  Survivors include his wife Beverley Hardegree of Covington; daughter and son-in-law Jeaninne and Scott Phillips of Raleigh, NC; son and daughter-in-law William Franklin and Carrie Hardegree Jr., of Covington; grandchildren Meagan and Blakeley Phillips of Orlando, Fl., Nicholas Hardegree, Tony and Dean Gardner, all of Covington; sisters and brothers-in-law Mr. & Mrs. Howard (Mary) Ellington, Dr. and Mrs. Michael (Elaine) Pulliam, Mrs. Opal Henry, Mrs. Margaret Henry; one aunt, Mrs. Ethel Hardegree; and nieces and nephews.  Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday October 31, 2009 at High Point Baptist Church with Rev. Justin Hiens officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church before the service from 12:30 until 2:00 PM.  In lieu of flowers it is the wish of the family that contributions be made to Parkinson’s Research (https://support.pdf.org or to 1359 Broadway Ste. 1509, New York, NY 10018 or to High Point Baptist Church – Harvest Missions (12025 Hwy. 36, Covington, GA 30014).
