Harold D. Stokes of Covington, GA died Friday, June 4, 2010 at Kindred Hospital.  He was born on June 26, 1929 in Covington, GA to Rebie and Gennie Mae Bowden Stokes. He was a life long cattle farmer which was his passion and was a member of the Georgia Cattlemans Association.  He was the former Fire Chief of Rocky Plains Volunteer Fire Dept. He was a dedicated member and Deacon of County Line Baptist Church. He  retired from Stanley Bostitch as a supervisor after 40 years of service. Mr. Stokes is survived by his wife of 50 years: Opal Stokes of Covington, GA; son: Bobby Stokes of Covington, GA; daughter and son-in-law: Angela and Guy Williams of Covington, GA; son: Barry Stokes of Covington, GA; grandchildren:  Kelsey Williams and Keaton Williams. He is preceded in death by a son: Gregory Harold Stokes; brothers: Bill Stokes and Bobby Stokes;  father: Rebie Stokes; mother: Gennie Mae Bowden Stokes.   Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday June 7, 2010 in the Chapel of Wheeler Funeral Home with Rev. Clifton Brown officiating.  Interment will be at Covington City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, June 6, 2010 from Sunday 2:00 - 4:00 PM.
