Over the weekend, two separate car accidents resulted in area residents being airlifted to Atlanta hospitals

Six-year-old Omarion Collins, of Covington, walked onto Long Creek Drive Saturday night around 7:10 p.m. and inadvertently stepped into the path of a 1983 Chevrolet Caprice Wagon being driven by Willie Edward Robinson, 56, of Covington.

Collins was airlifted to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for treatment of injuries; no charges have been filed in the crash.

Early Saturday morning, the 2008 Chevrolet Silverado of Daryl Arnold Ross, of Conyers, was found crashed into a tree off Brown Bridge Road.

Arnold was trapped inside the vehicle with his right leg pinned under the dashboard and steering wheel. The Newton County Fire Department had to cut the vehicle away from Arnold, who admitted to having drunk five beers before leaving a friend’s house, according to a report from the Newton County Sheriff’s Office.

Arnold was airlifted to Atlanta Medical Center for further observation.

Georgia State Patrol did not have any updates on the two victims as of mid week.
