Tennis: Alcovy boys, Eastside girls win

Tennis Alcovy boys def. Eastside 4-1
On the tennis court, Alcovy's boys dominated county rival eastside, winning the match 4-1 while the girls flipped the script and fell to the Lady Eagles by the same score.
In the boys' match, John Gammans defeated D'Andre Charlot 8-2 in No. 1 singles while Jerry Anderson topped Eagan Kelly-Burnett 8-5 in No. 2 singles. Jake Cowan made it a clean sweep in singles play for the Tigers, topping Matthew Sherrell 8-6.

The Tigers kept it going in doubled play, earning a win in No. 1 doubles with the team of Clayton Anderson and David Rash getting better of Evan Tanner and Ryan Kedzierski. Eastside's lone win in the boys' match came in No. 2 doubles. The team of Nick Tanner and Chase Bailey bested Alcovy's Jordan Hexom and Hunter Aycox.

Eastside girls def. Alcovy 4-1
In the girls' match, Eastside's Amanda Blackwell defeated Mary Ruth Davis 8-1 in No. 1 singles before Kolyse Wagstaff blanked Brandie Weatherby 8-0 in No. 2 singles to put the Lady Eagles up 2-0.

Ellen Blockowitz defeated Gabby Evans 8-1 in No. 3 singles to make it an Eastside sweep in singles play and Tashana Haye and Wendy Rodriguez topped Nicole Brooks and Trista Twiford in No. 1 doubles to win the match. Alcovy avoided a clean sweep when the team of Myel Bowers and Briana Chancy defeated Carli Barbo and Emmy Jordan in No. 2 doubles.
