Investigators following leads in search for missing man

COVINGTON, Ga. – Investigators with the Newton County Sheriff’s Office continue to follow leads they are receiving as they search for a missing Covington man.

A Mattie’s Call was issued for 55-year-old Matthew Cole Aug. 20.

According to a Monday statement from NCSO spokesperson Sgt. Cortney Morrison, Cole was last seen at Piedmont Rockdale Hospital around 7 a.m. Monday. Before that he was reportedly seen Sunday around 2 p.m. near Broken Branch Court in Covington.

Morrison said investigators were out yesterday actively canvassing the area where Cole was last seen.

According to Morrison, Cole has dementia and cancer and has trouble walking. He is believed to be in danger because he needs medication he is currently without.

Anyone who has any information or contact with Cole is asked to call 911 immediately. The NCSO case number is 2018-38326.
