GSP Trooper SFC Tony Henry succumbs to injuries from December motorcycle accident

Tony Henry, husband of Covington-Newton County 9-1-1 Center Operations Manager Trudy Henry, passed away Tuesday after a motorcycle accident in December 2016.

Georgia State Trooper SFC Tony Henry succumbed to injuries Tuesday in an Atlanta hospital from a Dec. 3, 2016 motorcycle accident in Florida. The husband of Covington-Newton County 9-1-1 Operations Manager Trudy Henry, Henry was a member of the Covington Police Department, Conyers Police Department.

Henry’s passing was announced in a Facebook post by the Covington-Newton County 9-1-1.

“It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Operations Manager Trudy Henry’s husband,” the post read.

“Those who knew Tony understand his dedication to serving and protecting as (a) Trooper. Tony’s final act epitomized that dedication by saving and changing several lives through being an organ donor. Out of this tragedy Tony once again selflessly found a way to help others and set a great example for us all.”

For six years Henry served as a member of Georgia Governor Nathan Deal’s executive security detail.

“Our hearts are heavy with loss and we grieve with his wife Trudy and the rest of his family,” read a post to Deal’s Facebook page. “We rejoice, however, knowing that he is in a better place. Rest in peace, Tony. We’ll forever cherish our memories of you and with you.

“Team Deal will never be the same.”

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 11 at The Church at Covington with Pastor Jason Johnson officiating. See Henry's full obituary here.
