COVINGTON, Ga. - A Covington woman who, was not there, scared off a would-be thief inside her home earlier this month by shouting at him through her security camera.

According to a Covington Police Department (CPD) report, officers responded to the home on Bent Pine Court early in the morning April 14 on a report of a burglary in progress. On arrival, they reportedly set up a perimeter around the residence because dispatch had been advised that a male was inside.

According to the report, when officers made entry into the residence, they cleared the scene without finding anybody. They also reported that the house was in order and that nothing appeared disturbed.

According to the report, CPD Captain Ken Malcom spoke with the property manager of Bent Pine Court who advised there was home security video available from inside the residence at the time of the incident. CPD obtained the video which reportedly shows an unidentified male inside the residence who appears to be trying to steal the owner’s television.

According to the report, the woman was able to communicate with the intruder through the security system and reportedly advised him to “Get the ‘f***’ out of my house. The police are on the way.” The subject then reportedly left empty handed.
