COVINGTON, Ga. – A juvenile student was charged Wednesday after being found with marijuana at Newton High School, authorities said.
According to a Newton County Sheriff’s Office incident report, the school resource officer was called to the principal’s office just after 10 a.m. Jan 3 after the male student was brought to the office by a faculty member.
The student reportedly had a strong odor of marijuana on his person. According to the report, when he was asked if he had drugs in his possession, he said he was holding it for someone else.
According to a NCSO spokesperson, approximately five grams was discovered. She said no other students were involved.
School system spokesperson Sherri Davis said, "We will not tolerate drugs on campus. In addition to any possible criminal charges, the student will be disciplined for violating the student code of conduct.”
