The Newton County Sheriff’s Office (NCSO) responded to reports of vehicle break-ins Feb. 27. A gun was stolen in one of the thefts.
A Dell laptop was taken when someone broke out the window of a pick-up at a home on Spring Valley Way. According to the report, the truck’s owner said he parked the truck on the curb outside of the residence and locked it around 8 or 9 p.m. Feb. 26. The theft was discovered on Feb. 27.
A pistol was taken from a vehicle parked in the driveway of a home on Spring Valley Keep. According to the NCSO report, the owner of the car told the responding deputy that sometime between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. Feb. 27, somebody went through his car and stole the black, Hi-Point 9mm pistol he keeps in the vehicle.
At a house on Whitehead Drive, the resident told the responding deputy that sometime between 6 p.m. Feb. 26 and noon Feb. 27, somebody broke a window on his truck and stole a file folder containing papers, about $10 in change and a pair of black Jordan tennis shoes. According to the NCSO report, there were no visible fingerprints.
