Lee awarded Rookie of Week for third time

ATLANTA - Georgia State freshman catcher Catherine Lee earned Colonial Athletic Association Rookie of the Week honors for the second consecutive week and third time this season, announced by the league office.

A native of Covington, Lee batted .714 (5-of-7), including four doubles, with five RBIs and five runs scored in a doubleheader sweep of CAA foe George Mason.

Lee raised her RBI season total to 51, setting a new Georgia State season record. She passes Heather Smith who brought home 48 runners in 1988.

Lee leads the CAA and ranks second in the nation in RBI. She also has 11 home runs on the season, just one shy of the Panther season record.

Georgia State (27-8 overall, 6-2 CAA), which ranks among the top five nationally in batting average and runs per game, returns to action at 4 p.m. today, hosting Auburn in a doubleheader at at Bob Heck Field in Panthersville.
