Hagans gets another Georgia player of the year award, Kentucky offer in the same day
Dre Butler, Lexii Chatman also make AJC all-state

Newton's Ashton Hagans got one of his most coveted offers when Kentucky came calling Thursday afternoon.

COVINGTON, Ga. -- Surprise, surprise. More postseason accolades for Ashton Hagans. 

This time, the 6-foot-4 junior and five-star point guard prospect was named the AJC’s Class AAAAAAA Player of the Year. This coming not long after the Newton star was named Mr. Georgia Basketball by the Atlanta Tip-Off Club. 

Hagans was also a first-team selection the AJC’s all-state roster which came out shortly before news broke that Hagans was offered by Kentucky and coach John Calipari.

Joining Hagans on the AJC’s All-State squad is senior Dre Butler who was an honorable mention selection. The 6-foot-5 forward signed a scholarship offer to play football at UTC. 

For the girls, it was Newton’s Lexii Chatman making the Class AAAAAAA first team roster after averaging 20 points per game for the Lady Rams’ state runner-up squad.
