An Austell resident who had a blown tire driving through Rockdale County on Sunday morning ended his night in jail after police found marijuana falling out of his clothes.

A Rockdale County Sheriff's Office deputy arrived on I-20 eastbound under the Sigman Road Bridge at around 3 a.m. after receiving a call about an accident.

The front left tire on Darius Leon Ridgeway's vehicle had blown forcing the 19-year old to pull over to the left side on the median.

After being escorted by a deputy to the right side of the road, Ridgeway exited his vehicle.

According to reports, as Ridgeway stepped out, "a small plastic zipped baggy that contained a green leafy substance" fell out of his clothing. The deputy then asked him if he had anything else on him they should know about, to which Ridgeway replied no.

While conducting a search on Ridgeway's driving status the deputy discovered that his license was both expired and suspended for failure to appear.

Shortly after transporting Ridgeway to the Rockdale County jail, the deputy was notified that once there, Ridgeway was caught with marijuana in his sock.

Ridgeway was charged with Possession of Marijuana with Intent to Distribute, Crossing a Guard Line with a Controlled Substance and Driving while License Suspended.
