An Atlanta man has been arrested after allegedly scrapping vehicles stolen out of Atlanta at Newell's Recyling in Conyers last month.

Rockdale County Sheriff's Deputies worked with Atlanta Police Department detectives to arrest Johnathan Cornelius Arnold, 36, of Memorial Drive in Atlanta, after he allegedly scrapped two Dodge Caravans with faulty vehicle identification numbers.

The vehicles were stolen out of Atlanta in March and an Atlanta detective was able to trace the stolen cars to Newell's, which is located on Dogwood Drive.

Arnold was arrested by Rockdale County Sheriff's deputies on April 9 and charged with felony theft by receiving stolen property, removal or falsification of motor vehicle or engine ID number, false statements/writings and concealment of facts.

Though he was arrested locally, Atlanta law enforcement officials are investigating Arnold in a number of stolen vehicle cases.
