Earlier in the century, one of the joys of the end of summer was the celebration of the town fair.

Unfortunately, many fairs have lost their luster — being replaced by the Internet and console games.

But don’t despair, in our area we still have the opportunity to go to an old fashioned fair.

The Social Circle Rotary is sponsoring the Social Circle Fair, complete with food and games

The fair begins Tuesday and continues through Sept. 14.

This year’s fair features rides provided by McNair amusements and will be held behind the Social Circle High School.

Social Circle Rotary members will take profits earned from this event and return it to worthwhile community organizations and projects like the Boys and Girls Club and reading programs for children.

If you know a Rotarian, you can purchase discount ride tickets from him or her.

It is still exciting to be able to have an event that provides safe fun as well as food and entertainment for the whole family.
