In times of economic struggle, a community is measured by its people.
Here in Newton County our people have proven time and again that they are willing to help their neighbors make it through our current crisis.
The Washington Street Community Center is a beacon of hope for the community it serves, but just like any other nonprofit group, the center is straining to maintain the positive services it provides.
Once again, some members of our community are riding to the rescue.
Doug Vason, owner of Vason Concrete Construction, has pledged to set aside $1 every day from his business to donate to the WSCC. This is not the best of times for the construction business either, but Vason saw a need and has stepped up to the plate. He has been joined in that daily donation by friend Nathanial Taylor and James and Clifton Nolley, owners of James and Clifton’s Styling Salon.
We appreciate these gentlemen’s spirit and generosity, which makes our community a great place to live.
