A few months ago, the Georgia Department of Education had predicted some 19 of our county schools were expected to not make Adequate Yearly Progress this year on their CRCT tests.
However, after the re-test scores were calculated, our schools came out looking much better than expected.
Dr. Gary Mathews, our superintendent, has reported that only seven of our schools failed to make AYP this year. It’s not the results we’d like — we’d like to see all our schools passing their AYP — but it is a good start.
Our teachers and faculty are some of the finest to be found anywhere. We know they're doing their best to bring all the schools up to par.
With another year to continue to improve, all our schools will pass AYP. This is a positive step forward, but there is still work to be done.
