It's impossible to not feel depressed some days about the economic failures occurring in our country, state and county.
That is why it was encouraging Thursday night to hear Covington Mayor Kim Carter give a state of the city address that was encouraging and upbeat.
Mayor Carter gave proper credit for the city's financial shape to her predecessor's, Dr. W.L. Dobbs and Sam Ramsey.
She laid out the progress of our past, present and future.
From her report, the city of Covington looks like the emerald city in the midst of gloom and doom.
We encourage the mayor and council to continue with this conservative and progressive management style.
We thank not only them, but city staff and the citizens of Covington for their combined efforts in helping make our city the best it can be during these struggling economic times.
