This is a special salute to the efforts of Gunnery Sergeant Ret. Sherman Smith, who has led his charges in the Newton High School MCJROTC to victory again this year - as they have for the past eight straight years - earning national distinction as a Naval Honor Unit.
This action places the troops at Newton High in the top 20 percent of all Marine Corps Junior ROTC programs in the country.
