Verna Nell Otti, 75, of Mansfield, Georgia, passed away Monday, January 11, 2010, at home with her husband, Charles E. Otti, by her side. Nell fought a brief fight with cancer and now joins her son, Johnny B. Nelms, II; her parents, Nellie Mae Arnold of Athens; a father, Eddie Reese Arnold of Athens; two sisters, Carolyn Dotson and Mary Ann Ellison; and a brother, Henry Reese Arnold, in Heaven. Nell was born February 5, 1934, in Athens, Georgia. She met and married Charles E. Otti, August 31, 1979, and have been inseparable ever since. Nell loved to garden both with vegetables and flowers. She was a wonderful cook and mastered the art of Sudoku and crossword puzzles, and an ardent Braves fan. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 30 years, Charles E. Otti of Mansfield, Georgia; three daughters, Anita Barlow of Pocahontas, AR, Donna Jean Nelms-Robinson, and husband, James C.H. of Panama City, FL, Vicki Marie Nelms of Henderson, NV; two step-daughters, Marsha Yoshika Otti of Middleburg, FL, Julia Yoshika Otti-Janda, and husband, Troy, of Jacksonville, FL; four sisters, Margaret Wright of Warner Robins, GA, Vera Bramblett, and husband, Ed, of Athens, GA, Jean Patton of Covington, GA, Patsy Diunizio, and husband, Larry, of Virginia Beach, VA; a brother, Lee Arnold, and wife, Betty, of Cochran, GA; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Nell Otti will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, January 14th, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Rd., with Lee Arnold, brother; Donna Jean Robinson, daughter; and Patsy Diunizio, sister, all officiating. Entombment will follow in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Thursday, January 14, from 12-1:45 PM.
