Ms. Sylvia Elaine Sims died Oct. 22. The daughter of Robert Lee Cobb and the late Annie Joyce Chandler, she was born in 1959. She graduated from Newton County School system and was employed with Bibb and Marshall for several years. She joined Springfield Missionary Baptist Church at a young age. Affectionately called "Syl," she was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother and good friend to life-long acquaintances. She was known for always having a broad smile and sunny disposition. Ms. Sims never let an opportunity pass without telling her loved ones and friends that she loved them.

Surviving are her father Mr. Robert Lee (Emma) Cobb of Oxford; children Travis Sims, Quincy (Amelita) Sims and Seaquoia Sims, all of Covington; grandchildren Shontia Roseberry, Anthony Glover, Quincy Jermaine Sims III, all of Covington; siblings Sandra (James) Johnson of Covington, Gable (Denise) Sims of Lithonia, Connie (Willie) Shy of Conyers, Gwendolyn (Clarence) Boyd, Anthony N. Cobb of Oxford, Deborah (Michael) Banks, Tina M. Cobb, all of Covington, Kerry L. (Cheryl) Cobb of Lithonia, Miranda Cobb-Ponder of Atlanta; step-siblings Harriett Reid, Markus Reid, Quevas Reid, Geri Head, Keisha Hubert, Kenneth Head, all of Covington; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Oct. 26 at Springfield Baptist Church, Conyers, with Pastor Eric W. Lee Sr., Minister Tina Cobb, Minister Telly Brown and Minister Sharon Pitts officiating. Interment followed in Macedonia Cemetery, Covington.
