Mrs. Gussie Mae Beam Knight of Oxford, died June 10, 2009, at the age of 83. A lifelong resident of Newton County, she worked at Bibb Manufacturing for 30 years, before working for Beaver Manufacturing in Mansfield. Mrs. Knight was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Marion Knight; parents, Samuel Augusta and Ada Watkins Beam. Survivors include her sisters, Martha Griffith of Loganville, Lucile McClain of Lawrenceville; sister and brother-in-law, Eula and Borland Thompson of Franklin, NC; brothers and sisters-in-law, Oscar and Betty Beam, Johnny and Barbara Beam, all of Covington; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mrs. Knight will be held Friday, June 12, 2009, 2 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Rd., with interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, June 11, from 6-9 PM.
