Mrs. Mary C. Capps, 86, of Covington, passed away Oct. 26.
Mrs. Capps was one of the earliest members of The Baptist Tabernacle. She served as treasurer from shortly after the church began until the new church, at its present location, was completed.
She worked as a beautician for more than 30 years and was one of the first in the area to offer sculptured nails. She loved to travel, especially with her husband.
In her later years, she enjoyed listening to books on tape. Mrs. Capps was preceded in death her first husband Marvin A. Cason and her second husband H. Clifford Capps; parents Eugene Vance and Mamie Louise (Parish) Curtis; sister Lois Coady Maddox; brothers Eugene Curtis and Henry Curtis.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law Donna and Andy Howell and Priscilla and Gerald Crawley, all of Covington; sisters and brothers-in law Janet and Charles Clark of Oxford and Linda; Jerry Parish of Covington; grandchildren Andrea and Wes Crowe, Julie Howell, Todd and Brooke Chambers; great-grandchildren, Connelly Crowe, Brelan Crowe, Aubrey Crowe, Hutch Crowe and Reese Chambers; several nieces and nephews, and a lifelong friend Quigg Piper.
Funeral services for Mrs. Capps will be held today at 4 p.m., at The Baptist Tabernacle, 10119 Access Road, in Covington, with Dr. R. Hudson Moody and Dr. David Moody officiating and interment will follow in Lawnwood Memorial Park.
