Martha "Pety" Williams Hawkins, 77, of Covington, passed away June 27 at Abbey Hospice in Social Circle. Mrs. Hawkins loved to read the Bible. She enjoyed talking to friends and was always selflessly willing to help others. Mrs. Hawkins loved to watch TV and had a special love for animals.

Mrs. Hawkins is survived by her husband Alvin Hawkins of Covington; son and daughter-in-law Cary and Shelia Hawkins of Covington; sister Mozelle Fuller of Tampa, Fla.; brothers C.H. Williams and Larry Williams, both of Clearwater, S.C.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Graveside services for Mrs. Hawkins will be held at 11 a.m, Thursday, June 30, at Oxford Historical Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, from 6 to 8 p.m. today, June 29. Flowers are accepted or donations may be made to the American Kidney Fund, 72 Edgewood Avenue, Atlanta, GA 30303.
