John D. Jordan of Oxford, passed away August 17, 2009, at the age of 65. A member of Salem United Methodist Church, Mr. Jordan retired from AT&T after 37 years of faithful service. He was an avid musician and guitar player who enjoyed playing at Ma & Pa’s Opry and Gum Creek Music Barn. Mr. Jordan was preceded in death by his parents, Claude H. and Emaly Davis Jordan; and brother, Hutch Jordan. Survivors include his loving wife, Arlene Jordan; daughter and son-in-law, Monya and Scott Lester of Covington; sons and daughter-in-law, Mart and Allison Jordan of Social Circle, Marshall Jordan of Oxford; grandchildren, Kalin and Emmy Jordan, Garrett and Olivia Lester; sister, Peggy Silvia of Covington; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Martin; nieces, Cathy Burgoyne and Ashley Hill. Funeral Services for Mr. Jordan was held Thursday, August 20, 2009, 11 AM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Rd., with Pastor Brandon Stanley of Crossroads Baptist Church, and Assistant Pastor Carol Standard of Salem United Methodist Church officiating. Interment followed in Oxford Cemetery.
