Jim Dyar, the “Candy Man”, died February 27, 2009, at the age of 87. Son of the late James A. and Susan Maxwell Dyar, he was a member of both Zion Baptist Church and the Emanuel Sunday School Class. He enjoyed working, gardening, visiting the sick, and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife, Modenia Dyar of Conyers; daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Gerald Temple of Social Circle, Susan and Jimmy Segrest of Rutledge; sons and daughters-in-law, Rev. Michael and Linda Dyar of Aiken, SC, Perry and Mary Stovall of Conyers; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mr. Dyar will be held Monday, March 2, 2009, 2 PM, at Zion Baptist Church, with Rev. Reese Sanders, Rev. Michael Dyar, and Rev. Michael Galdamez officiating, and interment in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Rd., Sunday, March 1, from 2-4 PM.
