Mr. James Hicks Evans, of Conroe, Texas, passed away on Nov. 12. Mr. Evans was born on Jan. 16, 1960, to Guy and Rebecca Evans of Covington. He graduated from George Walton Academy in 1978. Mr. Evans served five years in the U.S. Navy. Mr. Evans' childhood was spent involved in activities with First Baptist Church in Covington, and playing little league ball. At the time of his death, he was living in Conroe, Texas, where he had been in declining health for the past few years. Mr. Evans was preceded in death by his father Guy V. Evans.

Mr. Evans is survived by his mother Rebecca H. Evans of Covington,; daughter Chantal Evans of San Diego, Calif.; wife Barbara of Conroe, Texas, and her children Kelly, Kim and Donnie; sister and brother-in-law Linda and Cliff Blanchard of St. Cloud, Fla.; brother and sister-in-law Vince and Cyndi Evans of Conyers; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Evans will be held today, Nov. 16, at 2 p.m., at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, with Rev. Jack Wilson officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, one hour prior to the service, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church Building Fund, 1139 Usher Street NE, Covington, GA 30014.
