Hoke T. (Bob) Bennett, of Covington, died October 4, 2009, at Abbey Hospice, at the age of 95. Son of the late James S. and Elzora Cofield Bennett, he was a member of Harvest Baptist Church. Mr. Bennett retired in 1962 after 34 years of service as a truck driver and enjoyed gardening and farming. He will be dearly remembered as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great grandfather, and friend to many. Survivors include his wife of 75 years, Sadie Baker Bennett of Covington; daughters and sons-in-law, Peggy and Dwayne Cooper of Monticello, Mary and Barney Miller of Covington, Joyce and George Heaton of Fayetteville, Janet and Herschell Belcher of Mansfield, Sue and Tommy Millwood of Covington, Kathy and Stewart Way of Snellville; son and daughter-in-law, Tommy and Jean Bennett of Loganville; 23 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Mr. Bennett will be held on Thursday, October 8, 2:00 PM, at the chapel of Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home, 1215 Access Road, with Rev. Richard Culpepper and Bill Burnett officiating with interment following in Snellville Historical Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, October 7, from 5-8 PM.
