Gladys Partee Kitchens, 81, of Asheville, NC, passed away on July 1, 2009, at John F. Keever Hospice Solace Center. Born in Covington, to the late Lester and Ruth Dodson Partee, she worked for Bibb Manufacturing Co., in Porterdale, until her retirement. She was a member of Bent Creek Baptist Church, in Asheville, but also supported many local churches in Covington. Mrs. Kitchens was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald W. Kitchens; sisters, Kate Johnson, Quebelle Parker, Watie Mason; brothers, Reuben Partee, and Riley Partee. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Craig Bailey of Asheville, NC; sisters, Lucille Bray of Houlka, MS, Nellie Davidson of Columbus, GA, Billie Greer of Macon; sister-in-law, Exie Ragan of Macon; granddaughters, Joy Bailey Mercer of Nashville, TN, Libby Bailey Wright of Duncan, SC; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Micah, and Kara Beth Mercer. Funeral Services for Mrs. Kitchens will be held Sunday, July 5, 2009, 2 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Rd., with interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home, Saturday, July 4, from 4-7 PM.
