Dovie O. Davis of Oxford, passed away January 4, 2010, at the age of 91. Mrs. Davis was a member of Oxford Baptist Church, and often helped with church dinners, the youth group, and any other way she could lend a helping hand. She was a Christian lady, who stood by her husband, Albert Davis, as he served the Lord as a Baptist minister. She enjoyed crocheting, fishing, and spending time with her family, especially her grandsons. Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Davis; and parents, John and Cora Smith Osborn. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Gordy Griffin of Oxford; grandchildren, Greg and Cyndi Griffin of Canton, Brian Griffin of St. Simons; great-grandchildren, Maddi and Will Griffin; sister, Edna Davis of Jefferson; brother, Junior Davis of Stone Mountain; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Mrs. Davis will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2010, 3 PM, at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan, 1215 Access Rd., with Rev. Sean Nix and Dr. Alan Posey officiating, and interment following in Lawnwood Memorial Park. Flowers are accepted, or donations may be made to Oxford Baptist Church Building Fund, 305 Emory Street, Oxford, GA 30054.
