Nominations for the recognition being accepted by chamber

The Covington/Newton County Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for the annual "Dick James Small Business of the Year" award, to be given at the Chamber's annual meeting in January.

The Dick James Small Business of the Year award was created to celebrate the outstanding efforts of the small businesses located in Newton County, which make up more than 80 percent of all businesses in the county.

Criteria for nominations include:

• that the business be a member in good standing of the Covington/Newton County Chamber of Commerce;

• that it has operated in the county for two or more years as a for-profit company; and

• that it have fewer than 100 employees.
