Newton County may be rocked after midnight tonight by a line of strong to severe storms.
The National Weather Service has issued a forecast map that calls for the severe weather to enter northwest Georgia about 9 p.m., then effect metro a swath of Georgia from Gainesville to Atlanta to north of Columbus around midnight. The storms may pack damaging wind, large hail and isolated tornadoes. The chance of rain is 100 percent.
The high should be in the upper-70s today with some sun, giving way to a 40 percent chance or rain this afternoon.
There's a 70 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms Saturday morning, but only a slight chance of afternoon showers.
