The National Weather Service is calling for scattered to numerous thunderstorms, mainly after 2 p.m. today. The chance of rain is 70 percent and the expected high is 68. Rainfall of up to a half-inch is forecast for today, and up to .75-inch overnight.

Showers and thunderstorms are also likely tonight and into Sunday, with a low of 49. The precipitation chance is at 70 percent overnight, then 60 percent into Sunday morning

Expect a high of 66 on Sunday.

Attribute the stormy weather to the usual spring atmospheric brew of atmospheric instability and energy, interacting with an influx of moist air over the region from the Gulf of Mexico.

Monday should be sunny with a high of 64.
