Caution is urged this evening after the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Newton, Rockdale and surrounding counties through 10 p.m. Wednesday.

The National Weather Service’s hazardous weather outlook warns against numerous showers and thunderstorms impacting north and central Georgia through Wednesday evening.

Thunderstorms could produce winds in excess of 60 mph. Hail up to quarters, frequent cloud to ground lightning and very heavy rainfall can also be expected.
