The Newton County Sheriff’s Office is looking for any tips that will lead to the apprehension of three men believed to be involved in Newton County murder Thursday.

Adrian Ricardo Brooks, 35 of Newton County, was fatally wounded from a shot in the abdomen around 8 p.m., according to NCSO deputy Cortney Morrison. Brooks was shot in the Gum Tree neighborhood off Kirkland Road.

Deputies arrived on the scene after the men were reportedly seen fleeing in a vehicle similar to a white Toyota Camry. A be on the lookout was issued for all vehicles matching the vague description in both Newton and Rockdale counties, as the shooting occurred in an area near Salem Road.

“We arrived on scene and immediately had a perimeter set up and did look for that vehicle,” Morrison said. “We have since canvased the area and are looking for any witnesses to the incident.

Brooks was taken to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

According to NCSO, no motive for the shooting has yet been identified, and the case remains under investigation.
