To honor local firefighters and police officers on the 10th anniversary of 9/11, America's National Girl Kaitlyn Cole and Summer Hollis baked more than 600 cookies and delivered them to departments in Covington, Conyers, Walnut Grove, McDonough and Loganville.

"It's a day to say ‘thank you' to firemen, policemen and ambulance people and to tell them ‘thank you' for helping with our neighborhood," said Hollis.

"It's a day to remember everyone that died because of those bad men on the airplanes and to say ‘thank you' to all the heroes that helped everyone," added Cole.

Both girls are active in beauty pageants and have created their own organizations to give back to the community. Cole has founded Kaitlyn Cares has started several projects that aim to help those around her who may be sick or have financial difficulties. Hollis' organization Summer's Smile takes donated coloring books and crayons to children at local hospitals.
