ATLANTA - The issue of Sunday liquor sales may have found new life in the Senate now that the bill's sponsor sees renewed support for the measure.
After languishing in the rules committee for weeks, the bill is scheduled to be considered on Tuesday - its last chance to make it to the Senate floor before Crossover Day on Wednesday.
Sen. John Bulloch, R-Ochlocknee, says he now has the votes for the bill to pass out of committee and win approval of the full Senate.
Sunday liquor sales got off to a fast start as newly-elected Gov. Nathan Deal signaled his support for the local option proposal. It faced little initial opposition, but stalled after Senate Republicans decided the issue lacked the support to move forward this session.
