For: raising funds for neonatal intensive care unit

When: 6:30 p.m., April 24

Where: 3184 Clark Street

The home of Sam and Louly Hay, Clark's Grove, will be the venue for the annual Newton Medical Center Auxiliary Spring Gala on April 24. The home, at 3184 Clark Street, was built in 1941 by Louly's parents, Robert and Louly Fowler.

Having the gala at this site is particularly meaningful to the Newton Medical Center Auxiliary in the 50th year since the founding of the organization, as Louly Fowler was chosen as the first Auxiliary president. In 1960, the group consisted of 25 women, who had helped with the building of the hospital and its opening in 1954 and wanted to fill in gaps in service to patients caused by a small staff.

The gala will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a home tour and a live auction around the pool. Guests will move to a big tent for dinner, live auction and dancing.

The Auxiliary hopes to raise $50,000 at this event for equipment in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. More than $100,000 has been raised toward the $350,000 goal.

Tickets or additional information is available by contacted NMC Director of Volunteer Services Martha Taylor at (770) 788-6553 or mtaylor@newtonmedical.com.
